Everyone LOVES a good spectacle. And this weekend half the world is going to gather their favorite snacks, chips n’ dips, BBQ favs and party beverages to sit and watch three to four hours of over-hyped football. We here at The Retro love watching pro pigskin games, and when your talking about the biggest game, its always a must-watch occasion.
And this year the NFL took some inspiration from The Retro’s Gangsta Rap Xmas (we know you listen Roger Goodell); the half-time show for “The Big Game” includes Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar. Sounds like fun, even if the game ends up lop-sided and not competitive (which tends to happen with the SB)! No matter what, come half-time, a few select rap gods will be rockin’ rappin’ the free world. What’s the chances Neil Young is a surprise guest?
So this year, let’s pack a super bowl of your favorite smoke, and burn the bright lights just a little brighter!
What IS Gangsta Rap Xmas?
If you’re unfamiliar with Gangsta Rap Xmas, don’t be ashamed. It’s not exactly a new feature considering this past year we aired the 2nd Annual installment, but we forgive you for living under a rock. Basically, Gangsta Rap Xmas is our all-December month-long reprieve from the festive and monotonous melodies serving only to turn us into mindless money-spending zombies. So how do we break out of that holly daze? By putting a cap in Bing Crosby’s ass, that’s how!
Gangsta Rap Xmas airs on The Retro every December, ALL DECEMBER. We play the likes of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and other old school rap intermixed with some of the best rock music EVER! It’s our special way of making ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ fun and festive, without the same fucking Christmas songs your Grandma Millie rocked out to in 1956. But since the NFL took inspiration from our annual Christmastide, we thought we’d perform an ole’ fashioned “reach-around” and return the favor.

The National Football League is featuring these rap icons for their over-the-top half-time show, so shall we feature all of our favorite “gangstas” all super weekend! While you and your buds get ready for the Los Angeles Rams to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, we’ll be getting our buds ready to light up a super bowl of gangsta rap fun!
All super weekend we’ll feature The Retro’s best Gangsta Rap Xmas artists and take a toke from our super bowl filled with gridiron green! So if the game sucks, you’ll be too high of life to care. Not a bad way to spend the last weekend of the NFL season, even if you’re not a fan of the Rams or Bengals, or football all together.
